Ginny:

I'm a little confused, it seems by your message this morning that you have
had you just received your 2400. You have asked many many questions about
how to use it, what paper to use, etc. It's obvious that when it comes to
the 2400, you have not yet made it to "novice". Yet when Mindy asked a
question about paper feeding, even though your answer was correct, in your
response you said "I've never had a problem as long as you don't stack the
VFA" which implies you are an experienced 2400 user. I guess my question is,
if in fact you are an experienced user, why do you ask so many questions. If
you are not why do you imply that you are.

There are many experts that participate in this forum (you all know who you
are), but there are also many that respond as experts when they shouldn't
(you also know who you are).

I've already unrolled the fire hose.

Gary

Hi,

Altho the driver DEFAULTS to the single feeder in the rear, after it
does, I merely set it back to the normal sheet feeder. (You then can
save the setting) I've never had a problem as long as you don't stack
the VFA. I usually only place one or 2 sheets in the normal feeder at
a time.

Gary,

The explanation is pretty simple:

My answer to the query posed about VFA was based on extensive
experience with the R1800. As you noted, I have little experience with
the 2400 since I recently received it. But, from looking at the unit
and fiddling with it some, the feed mechanisms on the 2400 and 1800
appear very similar so I assumed that the VFA would load equally well
on both via the standard feed method.
Like many of us, I am expert or 'experienced' in some things and a
novice in others. I consider myself an expert in 'real' darkroom film
processing, paper developing and shooting with the Zone system. I
would rate myself as pretty darn 'competent' at digital processing in
Photoshop and digital printing on a 1280 or my newer 1800.
I'm a novice when it comes to the 2400 and the Advanced B&W settings
since I've never used them. But, I ask lotsa questions, read what is
recommended (Such as Clayton's masterful articles) and learn very quickly.
I would never casually give an opinion of conviction unless I was
pretty darn sure that what I said was true.
I hope this clarifies the seeming conflicts of my posing some rather
naive questions and also volunteering some definitive answers in other
areas.
