The explanation is pretty simple:

 My answer to the query posed about VFA was based on extensive
experience with the R1800. As you noted, I have little experience with
the 2400 since I recently received it. But, from looking at the unit
and fiddling with it some, the feed mechanisms on the 2400 and 1800
appear very similar so I assumed that the VFA would load equally well
on both via the standard feed method.
 Like many of us, I am expert or 'experienced' in some things and a
novice in others. I consider myself an expert in 'real' darkroom film
processing, paper developing and shooting with the Zone system. I
would rate myself as pretty darn 'competent' at digital processing in
Photoshop and digital printing on a 1280 or my newer 1800. 
 I'm a novice when it comes to the 2400 and the Advanced B&W settings
since I've never used them. But, I ask lotsa questions, read what is
recommended (Such as Clayton's masterful articles) and learn very quickly.
 I would never casually give an opinion of conviction unless I was
pretty darn sure that what I said was true.
 I hope this clarifies the seeming conflicts of my posing some rather
naive questions and also volunteering some definitive answers in other
areas.
