Museo Max and 1800 or 2400

2006-02-18 by how786

Has anyone used this paper in either a 2400 or 1800? It is the
thickest paper I've ever seen and jammed my 1800 even when the 1800
was set to 'thick' paper.
When I compared the thickness to the VFA, the Max appears at least
50% thicker! I am doubting Crane's quality control as they list the
thickness at 21. (The VFA is 19) The paper is a LOT thicker than the VFA.

I was afraid to then try it in the 2400.

 Howard

Just a quick question.. The QC from Crane Is very good.. Boxed well
Interleaving Sheets its some of the best QC I have ever seen.. Are you
cutting the sheets up by chance? as they are only available in 17x22 and
larger in sheets..From Crane..( If you had it cut down Or Bought it Cut
Down) Maybe they curled the ends or something? Not Sure ..But I Know its
thick

Im at Home now and cant actually measure how many mils it is..but in the
paper world 21 to 19 is alot..

Cheers

Heck, Jim. I have a box of 8.5X11 from them. It is packaged in a
Crane box with the paper name on it interleave sheets and all. You
know, the darn paper looks like cardboard sheets and is as thick as 2
sheets of VFA.
There has got to be something wrong with what I have.
It is not curled, btw. I had that issue already with cut sheets of
Semimatte that curled and caused me grief.
These are 'boards' that are perfectly flat.

well - it is pretty thick, but more than anything it's really stiff

I tend to just load it on the rear sheet loader, one sheet at a time,
though for bigger than letter size I have also run it through the
main feed on the 2400

If you have the cut sheets in smaller sizes, it is 365 gsm which is
pretty heavy stuff

(BTW - make sure you print the correct side - my box from digital art
supplies was loaded upside down. Both sides of the paper are coated.
But I believe only the side with the greater texture is the Museuo
Max coating)

Thanks. I did try one sheet at a time in the rear feeder to no
avail. And, yes, it is really stiff, too!

Howard,
Just curious, did you ever solve the problem with Max? I recently had
similar problems with Museo Max jamming in my printer. I tried loading
it front and rear and also using the thick paper setting, to no avail.
To my eye, I agree, it is WAY thicker than VFA. At least the batch I
have is.

Best Regards
Ginny

Re: Museo Max and 1800 or 2400

2006-03-02 by how786

Dear Ginny,

 Thanks for asking.
No, I've not resolved the issue with Crane. I am very unhappy with the
way their rep, David Williams, has handled the matter. To make a long
story short, the batch of Max I have jammed both my 1800 and 2400
printers with either a front or rear load even with paper setting at
'thick'. Altho the specs say it should be slightly thicker than VFA,
my batch is WAY thicker and as stiff as cardboard. I brought the paper
over to a friend and it jammed in his 2400 as well. (The paper is
8.5X11, btw purchased from Digital Art Supplies.)
I phone Digital Art and reported the problem. I asked them to take
back the paper and send me an equivalent amount of Museo II which has
always worked well for me. They said they could not do so without the
approval of David Williams from Crane. I called Crane who put me in
touch with David Williams, their Museo support person. He asked me to
send a few sheets of paper from the box which I did 2 weeks ago.
He has yet to 'test' or even look at the paper. I've yet to receive
permission to exchange the $40 box of paper. (I wasn't even asking for
a refund, merely an exchange)
The way this matter has been handled by both Digital Art and Crane
has been most upsetting to me. I've never had such an issue getting
defective product exchanged especially when it involves a small
amount of money..
There is more that I could say, but this is where things stand, in a
nutshell. I'm about to 'escalate' the matter and pursue other options.
Again, thanks for your concern. I'm sorry to hear that you have a
similar issue. They probably have a bad batch of product out there.
Good luck getting a refund or exchange.

Best Regards
Howard

RE: [Digital BW] Re: Museo Max and 1800 or 2400

7 sheets of EVFA should be the same thickness as 6 sheets of MM.
I just checked what I have on hand.

Best regards,

Subject: [Digital BW] Re: Museo Max and 1800 or 2400

Howard
