For thick paper with epson 2200. sheet feeder or manual?

For thick paper with epson 2200. sheet feeder or manual?

2004-04-09 by spersky123

Hello,

I just my batch of quality paper from Hawk Mountain. It is thick
paper. Is there a problem with loading that paper through the
automatic sheet feeder? Epson says that the thick paper should be
manually loaded, but that seems like a pain.

Thanks
Steve

I use all those papers in the top feeder ok.

Let us know what you think of the papers.

I just rec'd today two of the new Hawk Mtn non-OBA papers and I'll
be trying them tonight.

Clayton

Hi Steve,

For me, I just load 1 sheet in the normal feed slot.
Press the paper button once.
Gently hold the left and right side of the paper and help the printer
grab the paper.
You will hear it push back at you and you can stop helping it through.
Open the lid and make sure about 1/4 to 1/2" of the paper is showing.

It may take a few times....and it is frustrating.....but it works.
If the red paper light comes on, hit the paper light again to eject and
try again.

After a while you will know how much pressure to put on the paper to
get it through.

Please post on how you like that paper. I am looking for a smooth
matte and have heard great things about HM.

Good luck,

Ashley

i don't think it's a problem to load it through the
regular way. the watercolor paper is also thick and
gets loaded normally. the manual feeder seems to be
specifically for the velvet fine art. I'd do a test of
each and see which you like better. Setting the normal
way for the watercolor paper. I sometimes load my
velvet fine art normally setting it for watercolor and
think it comes out fine.

I'm printing a portfolio run using about 150 sheets of Velvet Fine Art. After
trying to finesse each sheet through the sheet feeder a hundred or so times, I
switched to the manual feed. It is a vastly superior alternative to the amount of
time I spent pressing the paper jam button and restarting the print que.

The manual feeder is a no-brainer push the lever down, feed the paper,
push up the lever and then press the paper feed button. How hard is that?
If you have concerns, use the manual feed.
