When I scan 35mm colour slides on my LS 2000 they come in Photoshop at 300dpi as the image size. When I scan my B&W negatives, with help from you, they come out in Photoshop as Image size 1350 dpi. Is this good or bad? Should I do something about it? Why is there this difference? Is it related to Digital ICE now being switched off? Ken

I don't know who you are referring to, so forgive me if I'm jumping in unwanted... but... Why are you not scanning at your scanners highest resolution, of 2700 spi? This will bring your scan into PS at 2700 dpi, at the actual size of the slide or neg. You then change the print size, without using resampling... this changes the dpi accordingly. All you are changing is your print size, the file size remains constant if you don't resample, same number of pixels. > Should I do something about it? set the res at 2700, the input/output at 100%. > Why is there this difference? I don't know what you were doing, haven't followed these threads.. but sounds like you are fiddling with the image size in the scanner software rather than adjusting the res at 100% size of file. > Is it related to Digital ICE now being switched off? Not at all. Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, Thank you for your input. I am not really a stupid old man, I am on a blind pension so I cannot really read any manuals. Honestly I didn't know my scans should come through at 2700, nor did I know that you could change it. I don't even know where to look at this stage, but I will sure find out. What the heck is he doing with an LS 2000? Good question - I am trying to fight my blindness - I am already up to a 19 inch monitor. I thenk this group and everyone for their input. Back to the drawing board! Hi Ken, I apologize if my response gave the impression I though that... In some way I suppose I'm always responding to my teenage sons.. ;) it's a 2700 spi scanner, hence my question. From your notes you are changing the resolution by changing the output settings, choosing print size rather than file size by way of resolution. Assuming you are using Nikon Scan software, in that same pop out menu area, make sure that input and output are at 100%, and then change the resolution where the spi (dpi) number is located. I haven't used my LS2000 in a few years, so I'm not sure of the exact particulars, but I could find out if you need further assistance. Good luck, and Best, Carolyn
