I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the members of this group
for all I have learned from reading the discussions. I was motivated
in this gratitude by recently winning the grand prize in the Hawk
Mountain print contest this year, and the realization that the
improvement in my print-making ability has come largely from the
knowledge that members of this group (and a few others, like the
ImagePrint group and Epson printers groups) so generously share. I've
benefitted immensely, and now enjoy printing for other photographers
as well as doing my own images.

Many thanks.

Hello David,

Congratulations! That image has so much subtle dark zone detail -
certainly a challenge, can you tell us how it was printed?
Also I'm curious how it was taken (film, digi, etc). Really nice.

Regards,
Clayton

A few weeks ago I first posted on this forum, asking for help getting
started with B&W printing.

Just wanted to thank everyone who responded and to report on how it's
going.

I ended up getting a C88 for $40 on clearance at Radio Shack. Ordered
up the MIS EZN ink cartridges with Eboni and a pack of Epson Enhanced
Matte. Indeed, my very first print turned out quite good. Amazing!

Have since added Photo Black and Museo Silver rag and I'm getting
excellent results also.

All this just following advice/instructions on this forum and Paul
Roark's site.

In the past I had only used a pro lab for digital B&W and this is way
better.

Just got a pack of the Innova F-Type Gloss Warm Tone. It seems to
have a higher d-max than the Museo so it's an opportunity for me to
start coming up with my own settings. And just got my bulk inks and
related equipment so it's time to learn about refilling. Cool!

Anyway, I'd highly recommend this setup for the beginning printer. It
really lives up to it's EZ billing

Thanks again
Mark

This is certainly what many of us, especially Paul, like to hear. High quality, not too tuff to learn, great quality b&w print. Good work.
