Vaughn Hutchins is selected as PhotoCentral’s first Artist in Residence!

PhotoCentral has inaugurated an Artist in Residence Program. This endeavor will allow the PhotoCentral Community to interact with a recognized artist and give the artist space for the creation of new work. We are proud to announce that the first Artist in Residence in Fall 2017 is Vaughn Hutchins.

Vaughn Hutchins is a large-format photographer specializing in platinum and carbon printing processes and has four decades of photographic experience. As a teacher, he has run workshops across the US. His work is represented by the Ansel Adams Gallery, Yosemite.

Vaughn will use his time as Artist in Residence to create new work to be exhibited in 2018 and will be in attendance with his 11x14 view camera at the Eastern Sierra workshop with Geir & Kate Jordahl. The workshop is the weekend of October 19th and you can register here:

During Vaughn’s A-I-R, there will be an exhibition “Made by Hand.” Vaughn’s work will be featured in this exhibition along with a number of other photographic practitioners that are dedicated to the traditions of the handmade print. There will also be panel discussion on Handmade Photographic Art scheduled for Saturday, September 30th from 2-4 pm.

Additionally, Sandy King will be visiting PhotoCentral over the weekend of 30 September. He will be participating the panel discussion and available to chat about his work. A great opportunity to visit with these two great artist.
