Piezography Pro & Piezography K6/K7 inks

Piezography Pro & Piezography K6/K7 inks

2016-10-13 by azarijah@...

Currently using Piezography Selenium on my Epson 7900. How will Piezography Pro be integrated with K7 inksets? Will all new ink be required to move to the Pro version? Have scoured the website but not yet seen info related to this question. Also, for the InkjetMall folks, whenever I try to sign up to be kept informed, the web site consistently indicates: "Configuration error". Is this functionality not yet up and running? Thanks.

Pretty sure I know the answer to that. Yes, totally new ink set, will not integrate with the K7.

Unless somebody knows better.

I thought I read somewhere that one ink could be reused, which would probably be matte shade 1, but I can't find that reference now, so perhaps I've confused that with something else. But even if that was the case, it wouldn't make for much of a saving, so yes, you need new inks. IJM have said that there will be an introductory offer for existing customers to ease the pain of switching. I've got a rather large stockpile of K6 inks and so it would need to be a mighty good offer to get me to switch early, notwithstanding the reported attractions of Pro. I say reported, because IJM are doing a particularly good job of spruiking Pro well ahead of its release to build the hype, so much so they must have been studying the way that Sony and Fuji and others pre-leak all their new cameras and lenses. To be fair, if it really does perform as described then it will be a major advance. I'm just a little puzzled that after all these years of being told that we need seven shades, or perhaps six, now we only have four cool shades and four warm, as I understand it. I guess all will be revealed in 32 days, 15 hours and 28 minutes .... and counting.

Walker Blackwell from InkjetMall replied and confirmed your reply. I suspected this is the case, but wanted an official response from them to this as there could be others out there with a supply of "regular" piezo ink who might not upgrade til supplies are exhausted. That said, I presume, therefore, that the carts may need updating and lines flushed, or at least the lines flushed as part of an upgrade path.

Last, Walker indicated they'd fixed the mailchip, but I still get the subscription error, whether using using Firefox or IE. Maybe it takes a day to take effect.

Yes, he contacted me too, from HK I assume. I'm still not sure whether or not matte shade 1 is the same, but as Pro apparently is based on a new pigment then perhaps not.

As someone who has learnt to be wary of hype, intentional or otherwise, it would be a leap of faith to commit and buy and try before there's independent verification from those who did take the leap, especially for those of us on the other side of the planet.

Carts can be washed, but it's tedious to do thoroughly. The usual advice is to use a fresh set when you change inks. Not sure about the ink lines in printers that have them. No doubt there will be advice issued on that.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
