As someone who has learnt to be wary of hype, intentional or otherwise, it would be a leap of faith to commit and buy and try before there's independent verification from those who did take the leap, especially for those of us on the other side of the planet.
Carts can be washed, but it's tedious to do thoroughly. The usual advice is to use a fresh set when you change inks. Not sure about the ink lines in printers that have them. No doubt there will be advice issued on that.

That said, I presume, therefore, that the carts may need updating and lines flushed, or at least the lines flushed as part of an upgrade path.
