When using Photoshop curves, the amount of the K position ink used is controlled by the combination of the color curves. If only 2 of the three curves are full on and the third color is totally off, no K will be injected. As the third ink is turned on, more K is injected. When and only when all inks are full on will nothing but K be injected.
