OK, so it sounds like the Epson-Noritsu dye "2K2LK" workflow is going to be
in good shape. See
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1400-Claria-Noritsu-2K2LK.pdf

(But, from other e-mails it also appears that the older MIS 1400 chips do
not work in the 1430.)

So, you would appear to have the new style chips.

The good news here is that a Claria and MIS

Yes, very good news. Thank you.

The 1400/1430 with the 2K 2LK (a full quad, but just 2 densities), setup
makes very fine B&W prints.

Note that this dye technology is best in incandescent and modern LED
lighting. Older fluorescent lights produce too much of a color shift for
me. These don't show well with carbon prints. They are a slightly
different medium (which is good).

I've taken the dye technology up to the 4000 (17" wide; see
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/4000-Noritsu-5K-Plus.pdf ) and will put on
an entire show with that technology in September at Gallery Los Olivos <
http://www.gallerylosolivos.com/>. I'll be testing the Red River metallic
in a 17" roll for this soon. Particularly if the cutter works, that could
make a very efficient way to pump out impressive B&W images. (I dry mount
and frame with black wood with no mat board or glazing. The print does
have a protective spray.)

Enjoy,

Paul
