With SOOO many brands and types of headphones in the market, for those who use them on the DTXpress, which ones would you recommend?? I hear the "senheisserHD-280 PRO", is a good choice for this application. Any expert thoughts and opinions???

Just an FYI: I have a pair of AKAI noise-canceling headphones that I use and they work very well at cutting the "tika-taka" pad sounds, however, if you like to play with a fan on you, make sure the fan doesn't blow on the electret mikes on the outside of the phones, cause it makes LOUD thunder sounds since it tries to cancel what to it appears to be very loud thunder! :) Vern -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you? Of course, if the network http://www.txis.com | is up, then we obviously don't need Austin Office 512 328-8947 | you, so why are we paying you?" \ufffdVLG vap19592000 said:

I am still looking for the perfect headphones, but I have tried the HD280 pro and while they sound good, they have high clamping pressure and that damn curly cord is a real pain in the **** so I sent them back. I am currently trying to find out if the Audio Technica M40FS, AKG 271 or AKG K55 (recommended by someone here when I searched the archive) are suitable. I fancied the Beyer DT770 until I found out they had curly cords as well (and the latest versions are not closed). I anyone has any suggestions I would also appreciate them - where I live it is impossible to find any to try so I have to use mail order and hope. Keith.

I am excited to know that there are so many knowledgeable folks out there that share the wonderful experience of Edrumming.

I have donned every headphone there is, and when I put on a pair of Bose triports, I took them home, they are 150. but if I had to replace them I would pay double. --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "vap19592000" <vap19592000@y...> wrote:

One more thing about the Bose Triports, I use them for gaming too, 4 to 6 hours of pure comfort, no lie.

They are not too expensive here (UK). Keith.

What about wired "in ear monitors" like the Shure E2 (or E2c) - these go for about £55 on eBay UK, or the Sony Fontopia MDR-EX71SL which go for about £25. These have different sized inserts and completely fill the ear canal, so giving good isolation. Both have been recommended on other boards. Stewart

I think I will stick to real headhpones because I have trouble getting ear plugs to work well. I ride a motorbike and could never get the squishy ear plugs to work so I had to get some moulded to my ear. I doubt the Fontopias would keep the sound out as well as real headphones (at least not in my ears). Keith.

I use a pair of HD 25 Sennheisers. Recommended to me by my stepson who uses a pair as a deejay. They fight tightly, have an excellent frequency response, and cut out all extraneous noise. But they are expensive - I paid $450 (Australian) for them. --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "vap19592000" <vap19592000@y...> wrote: > With SOOO many brands and types of headphones in the market, for > those who use them on the DTXpress, which ones would you recommend??

I liked the concept with my cell phone, and would probably enjoy the "freedom" and lightweight characteristics they provide. Dan

my advice would be to try to get a good pair, one that you are happy with, i have 3 old cones and a few portable alternatives lying around the house from previous attempts to find the 'right' ones. looking back i perhaps should of researched a little bit more. i really haven't found any better headphones then my current sennheisers. I was so pleased with the hd 580s that for my mp3 and minidisc players i got myself a pair of pxc 250s, which i also thought were fantastic for portable headphones! i would recommend sennheisers any day, however they are a little pricey. good luck dude pT --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Nick Carroll" <njcarroll56@y...> wrote:

I like my Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, although I confess to a certain amount of brand loyalty, and I can see how the curly phone-type cord could be a nuisance, depending on how you're hooked up. My egg-shaped head has no trouble with tightness, but someone (Stewart, I think) told me about that issue. Ed

I really can't play the xpress with my old Beyer Dynamic cans anymore, because the amount of stick noise is so irritating compared to using the plugs. With the isolating plugs I can keep the headphone volume really low which has to be a good thing for my hearing. Harri

These are the flat frequency response versions rather than the extended bass versions. Comfy, don't squash your head, non-curley cord which is quite long, good quality & reasonable sound isolation. Only 1/4" jack (no 3.5mm) but I don't mind that. Thanks for the suggestion. Keith.
