Message from Chris Thackson

2003-08-07 by liberatusvirus

Hi all,

I just received a message from Chris Thackson, the founder of this
group. I sent a reply to him at his given email address, but oddly,
it came back to me undelivered. Anyway, Chris' messages follows:

Hello!

Seems like the ol' DTXpress group is in a pickle. I sincerely
apologize for the mess the group seems to be in. After reading recent
posts I realize 2 things. 1). I THOUGHT I cleanly left the group with
another member in charge, but didn't and 2). I am a "shitbird".

It's been a while since I've been involved but I'm pretty sure I got
prior approval before passing on ownership. What I definitely didn't
do was "unsubscibe" and my settings were on "send no email" so I never
realized I was still in. I did NOT unsubscribe myself recently, so I
don't know what happened there. Please know I didn't purposely leave
the group high and dry.

Maybe that other guy can help you out with transfering ownership.
Worst case scenario would be starting the group fresh.

Again, sincerest apologies for the mess!

Chris

My reply to Chris at an email address that I thought might work:

Chris,

I'm glad to hear from you. Yahoo must have deleted you itself. We
were in a pickle until Rolf Baehr, who somehow was left in charge
after you abdicated, finally, after many attempts, showed up to
rectify the situation. He had no idea that he had been made the
owner, let alone the moderator. If you didn't leave Baehr unwittingly
in charge, a possible scenario is that your chosen successor did.
Anyway, I hope you noticed that a few of us rejected the "shitbird"
description out of hand. I was lurking early in the game when you,
Giles, and Andy started the whole business, and leaving this group
high and dry did not seem compatible with your personality. A few of
us tried to reach you through the Black Root Ensemble AOL address
months ago with no luck. We didn't quite know what to think. We had a
generous offer to relocate, but moving would have meant leaving
everything that you pioneers and the subsequent membership had built.
Plus, we've reached the stage, at least theoretically, when we might
be able to throw our weight around. Relocating might have diminished
our membership significantly.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'll report your message on the board
so that no one retains the wrong idea.

Chris; if you're still out there & see this, you're now off my
s**tbird list. LOL! My apologies, and God bless.
