Hi, I am new to this group and new to the world of drums. I got a DTXpress II last month. A friend of mine has a Roland system in which the metronome can be configured to actually say 'one two...' OR 'one and two and...'. I checked different metronome settings in DTXpress II brain but could not find a similar setting. Am I missing something? Thanks, Anand

Hi Anand, I'm pretty sure that the dtxII doesn't talk, but it will click if you want it to help you keep good time. Roland users must have paid good money for modules that can also teach them how to count. What will they think of next at Roland, drum machines that eliminate the need to play actual drums? You could check if the new WDM chipset (which is built-into the dtxII) has these 'notes' and assign them to the metronome settings in the util menu. Erik

I have a Dtxpress IV. Is there a way to use the metronome click and only hear it through my headphones and not have it go through to the band PA system? Perry

Have a look at page 20 of the owners manual - "click out select". This allows you to send the click to one stereo channel & the drums to the other. Unfortunately, it looks like you lose the stereo output when you do it. Keith.

Sorry for the slow reply - I have been away. You can perform a couple of functions using the pads - changing kits and starting and stopping songs. I don't think you can specifically start the click, although it may be possible to create your own song with nothing in it, then assign a pad to the song with the click enabled (see page 21 of the reference manual). If I get chance later today I will give it a try. Keith.

I tried my idea of using a blank song, but it doesn't work. The DTXpress won't let you have a blank song. Also, starting a song with a pad doesn't start the click anyway, even if the song settings are for "auto click". The nearest I could get to what you want was to create a song with the "notes" of the song being your click pattern. Then you can assign that to a pad. However, because it is not a click it will be mixed in with your drum sounds. I don't think you can do what you want with the DTXpress. What you need is a metronome with a big on-off button you can hit with a stick! Keith.

I had the same problem! I bought a Grey beat monitor so I could show him I was playing at the right speed - that shut him up & slowed him down. Keith.

Hi Keith, I have discovered something. I wasnt actually looking for this but found it by accident. 1. press the Voice button 2. hit a pad, say for example your snare 3. Press page down until you reach the "Func= normal" 4. Press + sign twice to change "normal" to "pad song" and then to "click onoff" 5. click save if you want to. Voila!! you can now on/off your click by hitting a pad. :-) Hope this helps. Cheers!! --- On Sun, 6/15/08, Keith <keith@...> wrote:

Well b&$$er me - and it's even in the manual (page 21 of the reference manual). And I thought I know what the DTXpress could do (except MIDI). Thanks. Keith.

One more push of the button and I would have found it > > question: can i use the new hi-hat (rh135?) on dtxpress 3? According to the RHH135 manual you need to set up the DTXpress III module trigger setting to "4. SP Med" (same as for the RHH130). They also quote settings for all the other modules. However, that selects a complete trigger setup with the hihat setup as RHH, so all you really need to do is edit the hihat trigger to RHH. Make sure you buy the RHH135 not the RH135 because that's a lawnmower: http://www.mowdirect.co.uk/acatalog/RH135_105B_4.htm Anyway, it seems like it will work ok. Keith.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to ask if anyone of you have tried connecting their dtxpress to a PS3? seems like its fun playing drums on dtxpress rather than the pads that comes with guitar hero or rock band. :-) Cheers!!
