I noticed modern drummer has these two cds that are missing the drum tracks. I believe they're called "turn it up" and some university made them a part of their studies or something, anyways, are these cds pretty good, helpful?? Is there anything else out there like this thats better? Thanks!!

I'm not sure if these are any good as I haven't heard them. The concept, though, is excellent. I used these (on vinyl) as a kid some 30 odd years ago. They'll help you build better time and more creative, or at least, more personalized, fills.

OK, when I was a trombonist back in the 13th century, I used to play along with a vinyl series called Music Minus One. I can still remember "Blues in the Night." You might want to try Essential Styles for the Drummer and Bassist by Steve Houghton. It's a book/cd package with charts in several different styles and the cd has tracks with and without drums. It was my first semester drumset book at Western IL U.
