Rim Switch Questions!

Rim Switch Questions!

2003-01-01 by underneathheaven <realvast@swbell.net>

Hey people, hope you had a safe new year! OK I've got a question
about rim switches. In the instruction book for the DTXII it has a
section where it lists all the pre-set drum kits and there sounds.
I think in all of the kits it claims the kick pad or bass drum to
have one sound and then a rim switch sound. For example I remember
one kit had a normal bass drum sound and for a kickpad rim switch it
had a cowbell sound. So how do you get the cowbell sound off of the
kickpad? How can the kickpad have two sounds in the first place?
I'm confused! Thanks a bunch!

I have the original DTXpress, but I think the answer is the same. All
inputs, except 9/10, have rim switches. So two sounds are
possible(three on the DTx II). On mine, no sounds were assigned to the
kick rim.
I think the reason for this is that, If you need an extra multi-zone
input, you can plug the kick into the 9/10(which are mono inputs), and
free up a 2 (3_) zone input.
OR, if you used a two or three zone pad for kick, you cuuld, with
another pedal, access a foot-played cowbell, tambourine or soun effect
etc.
The possibilities are almost endless.I've had mine over two years and
still find new and different ways to do stuff!!!

Unless you upgraded, only the snare pad is a three-zone pad.
