I have the original DTXpress, but I think the answer is the same. All inputs, except 9/10, have rim switches. So two sounds are possible(three on the DTx II). On mine, no sounds were assigned to the kick rim. I think the reason for this is that, If you need an extra multi-zone input, you can plug the kick into the 9/10(which are mono inputs), and free up a 2 (3_) zone input. OR, if you used a two or three zone pad for kick, you cuuld, with another pedal, access a foot-played cowbell, tambourine or soun effect etc. The possibilities are almost endless.I've had mine over two years and still find new and different ways to do stuff!!!
