If at any point in time Yahoo decides to take a look at the group's activity & content, and makes a determination that the group is just idling, with no activity other than off-topic Spam, they can make a command decision to just pull the group down. They'll probably post a warning to all group members that beyond a certain time, the group will no longer exist. IMHO, that'll be the extent of their concern, if any.
