5U Panel Design

5U Panel Design

2006-03-25 by djbrow54

I got it all to fit in a 5U x 5U panel. I uploaded a photo to my
photo folder. The display PCB is much larger than the display area so
I had to move some items around.

Some details ...

The MIDI connectors are Mouser 16HR655. Very nice.

The LEDs are 3 mm

The switches are the NKK 1/4" flat handle toggles. I generally use
momentary but this time I think I'll use (ON)-OFF-ON so I can use them
as mode switches.

The jack spacing side-to-side is narrower than MOTM for everything to
fit. It is close, though.

The knobs are the 0.75" diameter. Same as on my PSIM and the Encore
UEG.

The LCD is centered vertically the same as the MOTM-650.

Other thoughts ...

I hope the start / stop are general purpose inputs AND OUTPUTS. There
is no reason to limit these to inputs. I think start, stop, and aux
should all be general digital I/O. I added switches to each.

I just put 4 fpd designs in the front panel folder. I am undecided on
the number of calibrated inputs so I tried different layouts with
none, 4, or 8. I also changed the design to use Piher PC controls
since there are so many. The only change is the mounting hole is
smaller.

Comments and suggestions welcomed.
