key contact issue??

key contact issue??

2008-03-02 by dsx707

Hello,

I been an owner of the Andromeda for six years and as of a week ago
noticed that the middle C key plays louder when played at lower
velocities. This would suggest to me that dirt or something is in
between the key contacts, which mean that a simple cleaning would fix
the problem. That said I could all ways take it to the local music
instrument repair shop however I don't think spending the $80.00 per
hour rate, would be worth it for this job.

I have seen the posts on how to take apart the synth which looks
pretty easy as I have done similar work on keyboards in the past, ex.
my old D-50.

The question is how easy would this be to clean the contacts and what
steps would one take?

I had the issue on my Kurz. A Little Denatured alcohol on the end of a
Q-tip fixed it for me.
Its not a "big issue" Took it all apart, lifted the rubber pads and put
alcohol in there. Thing is be careful not to rip the rubber contacts up.

Any way, my first post on this group as I just sold my K2600 last week and
am about to demo the A6 or the Voyager.
Regards..

Thank you Jay..

Now the K2600 has a a different style Fatar action than the Andromeda,
however the keyboard is the same as on other Alesis models such as the
QS series and also Kurzweils such as the K2000 and some other synths.
The WaldorfQ uses the same keyboard also. Do you think it should be
that simple?

Thats a hard decision you have they are both remarkable..
