the JStick of the darkstar sends out  

X axis midi left right CC 30 
Y axis midi up down    CC 31 

u will need a midi cc remapper via PC to control the WStation 16 and 17 
not very practical indeed ;-) 

.. add a Doepfer to the an1x it will make it a perfect controller ;-)

darkstar XP2 ? ;-)

Yes, but I can't figure out what CC the joystick puts out.  I hooked it to
MIDI-OX and monitored it in case I might be able to translate but didn't get
very far with that.  It also takes up too much space!

I'll figure something out, I'm just collecting ideas.  Thanks for all your
input!
