AN200 Restarts itself....

AN200 Restarts itself....

2004-12-13 by sulurawk

Hi!

I have recently started experiencing a problem with my AN200 Loop
Factory. It restarts itself as soon as you turn it on. It does the
startup sequence on the display, then simply restarts. When it does
start properly, the orange buttons flicker slightly, the flickering
is more intense if more LED's are lit. But as soon as you press play,
it restarts. I've tried doing the reset procedure. I've also tried
cleaning the unit, and I made sure the grounds were making good solid
contact on the access panel.

The machine is completely useless right now, because the moment you
start the sequencer, or press any buttons, it restarts.

Any help would be appreciated!

Nate

if it's any consolation, my second-hand an200 did the exact same thing
shortly after i bought it. after 7 to 10 days, the problem simply
sorted itself out.

in my case, it wasn't the power supply, as the yamaha pa3b power
supply that came with the unit would boot up my dx200, my qy70 and my
sy35 with no hiccups.

that said, triple-check the connection on the back of the an200, where
the power supply is plugged in (i'm sure you've double-checked it, but
one more look won't hurt)

good luck...

I thought power supply right away, as the unit came with the
incorrect 9v adapter. I purchased a 12v unit, configured it for the
proper polarity, same behavior.

The odd thing is that sometimes it won't work at all - restarts
constantly. Sometimes it works just like normal. It worked fine when
I got it, and didn't exibit symptoms until about a day or so. Now,
all hell has broken loose, and I can't use it regularily because it
only works when it feels like it. I disassembled it completely and
checked all connections & grounds. I cleaned the pots as best as I
could and reassembled. No effect, although it now works sometimes...
before the cleaning it didn't work at all.... I'm baffled and trying
to decide if it's worth sending it in to Yamaha.
