There are some getting started doc's in the Tips & Tricks directory of the Files section
here at Yahoo! Groups which deal with this very question:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/Tips%20and%20Tricks/

Please check these out and post back with any remaining issue(s).

hi jon,

i checked the files section and the only thing i could find is the cubase - xg edit - an1xedit configuration using hubbis loopback. i can't find anything on configuring the ports for the three programs using midi-yoke.

has anyone got these three programs working together with midi-yoke?

They serve the same purpose - inter application communication. Did you check the
forums or doc at MIDIOX.com?

yes i checked the midi-ox website but i could not find anything related to my setup.

there is a difference between midi-yoke and hubbis. hubbis is an application that you had to launch and configure.

midi-yoke has no application to launch.

please help!

dan.

If the MIDIOX forums cannot/will not help then I would suggest you a. try MIDIOX and
b. search the AN1x-list archives where you will find many helpful posts from
RayMaxer with suggestions regarding a successful configuration.

[AN1x] Re: midi-ox port configuration for cubase vst, xg-edit, an1x-edit ?

2003-12-29 by ELEKTRO DAN

can you please, please help me.

i gave up on music for the past year (reason why i have not posted
for so long) because everything has to be so hard. i just want to be
able to run xg edit, an1x edit, cubase vst and i can't even do that.

for some strange reason i thought i should try again and see if
things would work. but they never do.

if i knew it was going to be this hard just to get things to work i
would have never got into music.

i have put all my money into this stuff and i can't even get it to
work. i am un-employed and terminally ill. i have digestive problems,
back problems, a damaged nerve in my back that effets my leg, chronic
headaches etc.

i have one screwed up body and even if i want to go back to work i
can't handle it due to my physical problems.

i just want to make music so i have a reason to live. misfortune
after misfortune happens to me. it would be nice just to have
something positive happen in my life.

i wish i could make music so i wouldn't have to worry anymore but it
doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

music is the only hope i have left. i have nothing else. i have lost
almost everything that is dear to me and seem to be loosing more
every day that goes by.

but anyway, who cares about me? you can't see my face, you can't hear
me. i am just some text on a webpage.

dan.

Re: [AN1x] Re: midi-ox port configuration for cubase vst, xg-edit, an1x-edit ?

2003-12-29 by Sharon Safanov

Hi Dan

Well Jon told you that, but i will paste to here just read this email it was written by RayMaxer 12/10/03
Also read few email before this

writted by Ray:

Looking at your message written on 9/15 (after my e-mail), I still see that your setup was NOT CORRECTED...
For example , this part of your SETUP is practically fully wrong (and I wrote it in my message on 9/14) :

CUBASE MME SETUP

MIDI INPUT=SW1000 MIDI IN
           MIDI-YOKE 1

MIDI OUTPUT=SW1000 SYNTH1
            SW1000 SYNTH 2
            SW1000 MIDI OUT

You don't see WHY you need to use Midi Yoke..
The reason to use YOKE (Virtual MIDI PORT) is because you CAN'T have SEVERAL Applications outputting MIDI data to ONE midi port (SW1000 MIDI OUT in this case) at the same time.. [read it again].
you need that because you want to 1) send MIDI data (notes) from Cubase to AN-1x connected to SW1000 MIDI OUT , and 2) send MIDI data (Sysex - patches and control information) from AN1x-Edit to AN-1x connected to SW1000 MIDI OUT.
On your sound card (SW) this port (SW1000 MIDI OUT) is not Multi-Client-Capable .. you can buy GOOD midi-interface like Unitor8 or Midiex which IS multi-client-capable and you can use sev. apps at the same time.
OR you use MIDI YOKE.
For your situation MIDI Yoke should be used to HAVE ONE CONNECTION to "SW MIDI OUT" only, but you should use YOKE virtual port to connect CUBASE and AN-1x Edit to IT..
This is kinda a diagram showing it..

AN-1x Edit -> MIDI Yoke PORT 1
                                                       ->  SW MIDI OUT  -> AN-1x
CUBASE -> MIDI Yoke PORT 1

So .. in your "
CUBASE MME SETUP
MIDI OUTPUT=SW1000 SYNTH1
            SW1000 SYNTH 2
            SW1000 MIDI OUT"

SW1000 MIDI OUT must be NOT listed.. instead "YOKE PORT"(which is linked to SW MIDI OUT) should be !

I am not exactly familiar with Yoke's driver (so I can't tell you EXACTLY what buttons to push) but I was using HUBI loopback program several years ago.
you need to setup it so that there is some "MIDI YOKE Port 1"or whicever number u like which is an OUTPUT MIDI DEVICE and is ROUTED to "SW MIDI OUT"..
.
.

This (and my e-mail on 9/14 which is describing same ideas but shorter) SHOULD Help you Edit your setup...
If you have problems still - ask questions about something you don't understand, but don't write again "My setup is not working as I want, can anyone help me" again...
And BTW try making AN-1x Edit work at more default setting , without all the other synths and on-board SW synths.. use default setttings, like MIDI channel 1, Transmit - 1, Rcv. channel - 1, Device No. - ALL

Ray.

.........

This should help

Sharon

i had it working fir a while but it seems like the midi-yoke driver gets courrupted with use because it's not working anymore.

in the article you mentioned it says i don't need midi yoke.

the problem is that when i start cubase, xg edit95, an1x edit i get a "device already in use" midi error. without midi yoke i had it setup this way...

You would better off buying a multiclient midi interface then route its I/O to your synths and editors,.I use MAudio 8x8 usb-it works fine.

The cards accept midi in? if so then you just tell the cards to use midi channel so and so off the midiman driver.

true, but both my synths (sw1000xg and plg150an) are cards inside my computer.

only the sw1000xg has a midi in/out. the plg150an is a plugin board that plugs into the sw1000xg and has no midi interface.
