Cubase:An1x?

Cubase:An1x?

2003-08-09 by ddunn

Hi
I have AN1X.........and am trying to use cubase as a midi sequencer.
It seems to be able to play 1 sound only. How do I get to play a few
different sounds at the same time. Is this possible?
Great List BTW:
:)

Hi David,

Unfortunately, the AN1x is at most only 2-voice multitimbral (bi-timbral), and that's only if you use Split mode. It cannot play multiple instruments the way many ROMplers and such do.

Hi David,

>Thankyou for you reply! You have saved me a lot of time!
>;)

That's what the list is for.

>I did buy it to use as a master keyboard.......is it O.K. for this?

Opinions differ; I'll give you mine.

While the AN1x doesn't have top-of-the-line master keyboard functions like programmable zones and velocity curves per patch, I find it to be a very useful master controller. The eight knobs, pedal inputs, and ribbon controller can be set to any MIDI CC#, allowing control of other modules and synths. The ability to program different TX and RX channels, coupled with Local Off mode, allows the player to separate the keyboard from the sound source and to call up different instruments on the fly using only the TX Channel button. The keyboard isn't weighted, making the playing of piano parts a bit strange, but as unweighted keyboards go, it has a good feel. Despite the AN1x's mostly-plastic design and light weight, it has stood the test of time for me.

Hi David,

No, you would have to filter the aftertouch externally. Cubase should have a means to filter the aftertouch from the recording -- although, probably not from live use. There are other software means of filtering things out. If you need live support, MIDI Solutions makes a device called the Router that can filter information out of the data stream (or send it somewhere else). Check my website for details.

I'm fairly certain AT reception can be disabled on his Waldorf XT but it's been awhile
since I sold my MW II :-( If not, simply reduce the Depth amount for the paramter
being modulated on the XT preset in use ;-)
