If you're just starting out playing drum and bass, I'd recommend
software. You need a computer anyway to record. Get Acid, Rebirth,
and Cool Edit Pro.

Once you've got those figured out and you decide you need a screaming
analog synthesizer for weird noise madness, sonic mayhem, and
youthful indiscretions, get the AN1x. She's not an all in one
instrument. She is a specialized instrument. She does one thing
really well.

I have all the sequencer stuff, and a 10 I/O audio-interface already
for my computer. I just want to get some hardware to spice it up.
Most of my recording has been using soft-synths, which i have tons
of. I would just like something i could hook up for live gigs to try
and reproduce some of my home productions. Sounds Like the AN1X is a
good start to me.

I think this an excellent approach. The AN1x is nothing short of
versatile. In addition to great sound you'll find the programmable
Assign Knobs, Ribbon Controller, Wheels and foot pedal inputs
a real asset for both live control of MIDI Modules and VSTi's.
