AN200 Free EG...?

AN200 Free EG...?

2002-03-06 by ventilator_sda

...and while I'm at it, don't suppose anyone's figured out a way to
get the Free EG to affect note information? (Obviously I can use it
to bring track volume up and down, but not to silence note
information being sent to an exterenal sampler...)

I'm not certain I'm on the same page with you - can you clarify
why you DON'T want the active step in your sequencer to
transmit a MIDI CC message of #007 (Volume) with a value of '0'
to silence the note? Are you saying you don't want the active step
to transmit a MIDI Note On message _at_all_?

Sorry - to explain: AN200 patterns are limited to 16 steps; I wanna
be able to loop a pattern, triggering a 32-step-length external
sample (ie runs for length of two pattern loops) by a note on pattern
rhythm track.

Since the free EG is the only control I have within the AN200 that
can be set to run over a time period greater than 16 steps (it can be
set to run over lengths of 2 patterns, 4 patterns etc), I was curious
to work out whether I could use Free EG to silence the second trigger
note (as the pattern returns to play its second loop. and avoid
retriggering the 32-step-length sample loop?

Does this make sense?

Jeez... maybe I should just buy an external hardware sequencer!

Yup, but AFAIK you can´t use the Free-EG for that purpose.

True, QY-series from Yamaha is very nice, esp. QY700. RM1x (or it´s
bigger sibling RS7000) is great too. Also there is MC50/80 from
Roland or Kawai Q80 or Alesis MMT8.
