Anyone have ANY idea how I could go about editing AN200 song data without having to use the rather twiddly method recommended? Why, oh why (Mr Yamaha) is there no song editor included in the AN200 desktop editor? Or can anyone tell me if there's some way I can get into a bulk data dump from the AN200 and muck around with song data...?

Hm, the Editor for my DX200 has a built-in step-sequencer editor, but i guess that´s not what you specifically mean, right?

Why don't you sync your AN200 to a sw sequencer and dump the data in realtime, i.e., record the song into Cubase, Logic, or whatever. Is it correct to assume the **200 series cannot export a SMF? Jon

But as you already said, Jon, it shouldn´t be a problem to hook up the **200 to a sequencer (sw or hw doesn´t matter(i use a RS7k, works just great)) and record the outgoing data. Yamaha instruments with MIDI are very talkative. The **200 series is no exception.

Thanks, and yeah, this is all fine... but how to get the song data back into the AN200? I'm impressed with how talkative my Yamaha stuff is, but as far as I understand, the AN200 will only accept individual or total pattern/voice data, or a bulk dump. What I don't know (I'm no MIDI wizard) is whether I can get into that bulk dump and rearrange song data on the desktop (somehow!) then load it back into the AN200? - Ventilator --- In AN1x-list@y..., "tompaulsen2002" <tompaulsen2002@y...> wrote: > --- In AN1x-list@y..., "jondl_2000" <jondl_2000@y...> wrote: > > Is it correct to assume the **200 series cannot export > > a SMF? > > AFAIK, my DX200 doesn´t produce SMF in Song-Mode. You can access each MIDI-channel (which you can freely assign each of the four AN200 tracks to) by an external sequencer and use the AN200 in this way as a soundmodule, or to trigger patterns. But you are right you can´t send a whole song at once, what you would´ve to do is record with a sequencer the outgoing MIDI-data, while your AN200 is playing a song. > > What I don't know (I'm no MIDI wizard) is whether I can get into that > bulk dump and rearrange song data on the desktop (somehow!) then load > it back into the AN200? No that doesn´t work, since the AN200 sequencer is very basic and not a full MIDI-sequencer like the one inside the RM1x/RS7000/QY700. It works internally with it´s own data-format. Unless you record the outgoing MIDI-data with a sequencer, WHILE the song/pattern is play you can´t edit a bulk-song-data dump. If you record your song on a sequencer, you can rearrange it on the sequencer and use the AN200 then as a sound-module to play the rearranged song. Or as i already mentioned earlier, you can edit the pattern with the AN200-Editor and load them into the AN200 and then rearrange those to a new song. Of course you can always edit sounds with the AN200-Editor or AN1x- Edit and download or upload them to the AN200. Tom
