Hello to all you
I am new in the group and in the HP50g
And i need one help ;
Look i have 10^(17/10)
If i solve first (17/10), the result it is ok , but if a build a question as is the result is wrong

When you say...

If i solve first (17/10)

...I guess you mean 'evaluate'

I'm not sure what you mean when you say...

if a build a question

Do you mean when you use it in an equation? What's the equation?

Ok Mister Don
yes if i solve first ( 17/ 10 ), and then i make 10^1,7 ok right
If i make 10^(17/10) and solve it is wrong
The equation it is 10^( dBm/10 )
Thank you by all

What do you get when you evaluate 10^(17/10)?

No, you can't get miliwatts. There are no miliwatts in 10^(17/10), you must get some numeric result.

Put 10^(17/10)  into the calculator and press the EVAL key. What do you get?

Re: [50g] Help

Ok Mister Don
Look the equation is: milliWatts = 10^(dBm/10) ok !
What i made to solve it , i put 1*, look:
1*10^(dBm/1'0)
Example 50mW:
1*10^(17/10)=50mW
The secret it is put 1 to multiplicate the rest of equation
I spend more time to solve it !
Do you confirm it ?
I thank you now by the Big help of me !

Re: [50g] Help

I get the same answer...

1*10^(17/10) = 50.1187233627

and

10^(17/10) = 50.1187233627

Do you get a different answer? If yes, what is the wrong answer you are getting?

Hello Mister Don
In the second situation : only 10^(17/10) the calculator answer to me 10,10sqrt 10^7
I do not know the simbol  (, ) [ coma ] in the answer ?
What do you made to make the same results ?

Re: [50g] Help

I don't understand how you got 10,10sqrt 10^7 but try this. Type in each of the following and press ENTER.

-51 CF

-105 SF

This changes the flag settings. The first one Clears Flag -51 and changes the fraction mark from "," to "."

The second one Sets Flag -105 and changes from exact mode to approximate mode. That's probably what you want if you need to have answers in floating point. At the top you'll see R= (or C=) change to R~ (or C~). You can make the change directly by **holding** the right shift key (above the "ON") and pressing ENTER (-->NUM). Do it again and you're back in exact mode. If you press/release the right sift key then press -->NUM it will convert the 10*10sqrt^7 to 50.11...

You can also change your flags by going to MODE --> FLAGS. But don't make many changes at first, until you understand better what they do.

That should get you going.
