50g

Hi,
I think this group is a good idea.
I am not an advanced programmer.
For years I have wanted to post some programs I wrote and get
suggestions on how to improve them. Ask questions about things I am
stuck on and so forth.
On the two main HP calc groups I look at a I am not willing to do so
because many of the people who hang out there do not seem to like
people who are not on the expert level on "their" website.
I am an expert construction surveyor not a programmer.
I having been using HP calculators ince 1975.
I recently purchased a 50G.
I have programs I wrote for the HP48 series that I would like to
improve and put on my 50G.
I am not sure which program I need to dnld from hpcalc.org to transfer
48 to computer and then to the 50G.
If nothing else, I have print-outs I made with my little infra-red
printer for the 48 that I will look at and type them on screen and
post them here within a few days.

Where I work we have several hp48's, hp49's, hp50's, and some older
models that haven't broken yet. For the most part, with what I've
experienced, there is usually little code that needs to be changed
from a hp48 to a hp49 or hp50. That's just assuming it's in user rpl.
We basicly connected the hp48 and hp50 to the same computer with two
hp connectivity programs running. We've found using ASCI transfer is
best.

1. Make, in the new calc, the reals that have the same name as the
program files you are transfer. (makes pasting easier)

ex: 10 'myprogram' sto

2. Copy the program as text.

3. Open the text file and copy it's contents

4. Open the real object.

ex: 'myprogram' 10

and then paste the program over the 10 or what ever number you
chose to use.

It does take time but it seems to work, and a little better than
keying in everything again.

Maybe you would like to try with a tool developed by an user from
Perú, that make programming in UserRPL very easy and fast... Its name
is HPUserEdit, it`s freeware and is in the 5.2 version...

You can download it directly from here:

It`s originally in Spanish but you can change the language when you
have it installed...
