devide key

Hi

Please help. During one of many discoveries of my new Hp50g I did
something to alter the devide key. When I type 50/3 the curser does not
move after pressing the devide key. What did I do. Should i perform a
reset and if so how?

Did you use this sequence?:

50 enter

3 divide?

try pressing cancel, which is the ON key

Hi

No. I am set up in ALG mode. W hen I type the +(or - or *) key the
arrow moves one position to the right. When I type the / key it stays
on top of / sign just entered.

And what happens when you enter the digit after the /?

Is the result of the calculation correct?

Also, I suggest you try the RPN mode. Once you get
used to it, I think you'll like it better.

I put mine in ALG mode, and seems to work fine.

50 / 3 enter

or 50 * 3 enter

both work correctly.

Sounds like a strange problem, sorry I am pretty new to the HP50G

Hi Riaan Ed here. To reset the 50G, push one end of a small paper clip or similar tool into the little hole on the back of the 50G that is located to the left and just down a bit from the serial number. push straight in and hold for a second or so. When you release, turn the 50G over and watch the display to ensure that this worked. You should see a logo come up.

Uou said that the cursor didn't move. Does the cursor alternately blink with the divide symbol?

Switch to RPN definitely using the MODE key. There's a lot to learn. Ed
