I bought an HP50g in November 2006 because my trusty old HP27s
couldn't display graphs. I needed to create a lesson plan that taught
students how to display a simple graph on a graphing calculator for a
methods(teaching)course I was taking. I was planning on becoming an
elementary teacher (I am now seeking a math credential) and I really
did not have much use for it afterwards. So, it pretty much gathered
dust for about a year and half because I found it very difficult to
enter equations that I could re-use. I had no problem with the
numeric solver because it worked like the solver in the 27s. The
graphing wasn't too difficult to use and I loved the equation writer.
But, I never really progressed much after that. I think the manuals
are just a bit too excessive. But, with a little (Okay, a lot of)
help from people in this group, I think I now finally understand how
to use this thing! I have several different directories and dozens of
equations in each one. As soon as I get chance, I am going to create a
lesson (many lessons)for dummies that shows students how to use this
calculator.
The 27s is still my first love, but I've had to move on to the new
love of my life, my 50g! Yup, I can't look back anymore. Now, I just
have to find my pocket protector.
