From what I've heard, the serial on the 50g isn't
really RS232 compliant, the voltage is too low. So
even if you built a cable with the right connections
it still won't work. However, Samson Cables has just
developed a cable and is looking for beta testers;

There is another way of printing. I don't remember
exactly how it works. I think you print from the
serial port to a computer connected to that port. The
computer is running an emulator of the 82240b printer
so I assume you get all the special symbols printed.
The emulator creates a graphic of what it receives
from the 50g and then you just print the graphic to
whatever printer you have connected to the computer.
To find out more go to www.hpcalc.org and in the
search box enter 82240b. I think there are 3 or 4
emulators to choose from.
