Modelmaker??? wow...
Hard to get past that one.
Anyway, Ezra, I think you addressed the external audio fm before, & confirmed that fm direct from the mod esc worked better.
It wasn't clear whether this was ever something that could be addressed firmware, but beyond that, sort of related, is there any sort of behind the panel block diagrams of these modules?
For example, does the mod osc go through conversion, or is it's path digital, versus the external in?
More questions:
Does the 261e waveshape functions occur after conversion as analog?
Could the 259e waveshape tables emulate extreme audio rate fm?

you know, we need to record demonstrative parameter sweeps for the line6
plugin . haha

the ext. audio is sampled, as you'll realize is necessary since the
pre-waveshaping sines (main and mod) are digital ( was i've mentioned here
before). digital phase incrementing == no drift, recall arbitrary
frequencies with precision, etc

so the internal modulation can all be calculated in one fell swoop, no block
diagram required, not so for arbitrary audio

it's all a bit mixed up really, and the terms don't always mean what people
expect them to

yes the waveshaper is 100% analog, very close to old 258

no, i don't think so. they can emulate extreme gnarly audio kahunas though.

(sorry, i am thinking about the beach today.)

Typo... it is very close to the old 259, not the 258.
