Other than the obvious trigger mod (absolutely necessary for use with the
Serge due to the lack of triggers) for the 800, you'll need to look at
normalized ground connections on some inputs. I know that I was able to
connect a 1M between the input and ground for the switch of the 700 --
otherwise it would hang high regardless of the setting of the voltage knob. I
also ran into problems with the normalized CV inputs on the 410 which need to
see ground to get a good range on the LFO which would go no slower than about
10Hz if left floating -- I chose to leave these floating, and use patch cords
to ground when I used the LFO. There may be a better solution to this, in
fact this was the module that made me decide to change back to the 1/4"
jacks. I don't remember any other problems with the filters though.
I didn't use any adapters to match the size of the bananas to the 1/4"
mounting holes -- I merely lined up the flats on the banana jacks vertically
so they all line up horizontally. I'm sure you can buy a Teflon shoulder
washer from Mouser or any other big place (these types of washers were used
in the older style Serge for mounting the LEDs). I'm sure it would be easy to
determine which size you'd need by the ID and step size OD of the washers and
the OD of the bananas and the ID of the 1/4" mounting holes.
I do sometimes have a problem with bananas (generally) coming loose oc
casionally in the panels (any style panels). This might be reduced with the
use of the shoulder washers.
The only thing I'd be concerned about with such a change is the number of
future modules which may include normalized connections (Paul specifically
mentioned that these would often be part of future design). If your
"customer" intends on buying future MOTM stuff this decision might come back
to haunt him, as it did me.
