:: THE BIG NOISE
::

The brainchild of Columbus' unique skip-hop DJ Beating Eric, The Big
Noise launches as a monthly night of experimental music, performance,
visual art, and other work. Those who remember the now-legendary Cafe
Ashtray nights at the old Acme Art Company space will find a familiar feel
with this. New sounds, new sights, original local work, EVERY MONTH.

The first lineup features some of the usual suspect with unusual sound
specs:

.alpha.ranger.
Denali Records recording artist
DJ Polaris (You Are Here, Fantastic Voyage, Vortex, et al.)
1/2 Tentochi (along with Aaron Shinn)
1/3 Solid State (along with Mark Gunderson and Andrew
Byrd)
Final North American performance on ∗EARTH∗CUBED∗ 2000 - 2001 World Tour
Asian leg of tour begins December 10, 2000, in Tokyo, Japan

THE EVOLUTION CONTROL COMMITTEE makes a rare local appearance and will
perform the first US show using their newly developed THIMBLETRON. Still a
prototype, recently declassified from Internal Only status out of ECC's
Research & Development wing, prototype v2 of the Thimbletron is a new live
sample performance system utilizing difficult-to-harness Thimbletronic
energy. It will be used to present work from the upcoming "Plagiarhythm"
release. (http://evolution-control.com)

BEATING ERIC is Columbus' originator of the skip-hop school of DJing.
Juggling up to a dozen simultaneously looping turntables, Beating Eric
massages them into a rotating symphony that fits somewhere between DJ
culture and recycled electronics. Fans of Christian Marclay and Otomo
Yoshihide, heads up. (http://siegewerks.com/beatingeric/)

STARE's biography describes them well enough: "Stare is an ethereal
gothic rock band that blends the feel of early 80's Cure with Cocteau Twins
sensibilities, throws in a dash of the Sisters of Mercy, and yields a final
product that exemplifies a modern darkwave sound similar in vein to Lycia,
Autumn, This Ascension and Trance to the Sun." (http://www.mp3.com/stare)

All this plus live visual art and a bunch of other weird crap.
