Yes, that's the basic Chua circuit with some solid state stuff added in to
create the "non-linear Chua Diode."
I have seen circuits with better circuitry for a better non-linear diode
curve. Also, it is possible to replace the coil.
The trick is to put the bells & whistles on it. VC, etc.
Also, I figure that the "pitch" (sic) control would be finicky, so it's a
case for a really big knob centered on a 2u panel.
