I've been buying "Horizon" cables from my local music store. They are
relatively inexpensive, come with metal plugs and have not failed on me even
in live situations ("hey roadie, look out for that.....DOH!").

I doubt if they are using Switchcraft plugs but they seem durable enough.
Printed on the cable sheath is "low noise instrument cable" (whatever that
means!). They do come in different colors as well.

If I recall correctly, I paid around three-ish for each 3ft cable, around
six dollars for the 20 footers.
