Toyota doesn't need a web site to sell cars... but guess what---they have
one!

And unless you already know that Serge synthesizers are "Sound Transform
Systems," you aren't likely to look there off the top of your head. How are
people new to this field supposed to find anything out? The magazines sure
don't help like they did 20 years ago.

"Word of mouth" is good when there are other mouths around. Me? I'm in a
complete vacuum in Connecticut. Before I joined this list, I had NO ONE to
talk to about modular synthesizers. That's why I'm so angry at myself for
missing the NYC users meeting... it would have been a great chance to meet
some of you. Even living almost literally in the shadow of Yale University,
there is NOTHING going on around here, community wise, certainly not with
the kind of music that I like. I hang around Starbucks all day, and no one
has yet come over to me saying, "Hey fellah, have you checked out the new
Absynthe Modular Synthesizer system? Everybody's talking about it!"

Besides this list, my only connection with the outside world are the two
all-but-useless-now magazines, "Keyboard" and "Electronic Musician," which
are great if I want to read my 20,000,000th review of a virtual synthesizer
or a "warm tube" VST plug in. Yawn.

(Sorry I'm a little cranky, folks... it's Monday morning and the coffee is
bad... couldn't make it to Starbucks this morning... I mean it though, I'm
sick to death of virtual synths. They come out faster than my kid can
scribble refrigerator drawings... how excited am I supposed to be?)

Ken is 100% correct: today it is ∗assumed∗ you have a website, and if you
don't, it implies there
is "something wrong" (not picking on Serge, but in general). Rex has
www.soundtransform.com
registered with a tag page in place.
