I was wrong. The depth is really 8.5". It is pretty stable. I'll admit that the
depth was dictated by the other cabinets in my system so there wasn't any science
involved. It did create a nice depth for mounting the power supply in the back with
a good bit of room between the PS and the modules. What certainly helps is having a
lower cabinet that is deeper and sloped. The bottom cabinet is 14". The rubber
feet are very important when stacking. I've had the whole stack shake when I get
'a-patchin'. It sits on a fairly heavy duty table that does have some play with all
the weight. I've never had any of the cabinets slide around.
