Thanks for the info. And a version that crops the leads sounds even better
still. I like to stuff the PCBs with all the components that lay flat on the
board for the first pass, like resisters, diodes, ceramic caps and ferrite
beads. I need to clip the leads shorter, otherwise they get in the when I
try to solder.

Too bad Paul doesn't invest in that and save himself and all of us a lot of
time.
