a few suggestions (based on many mistakes made that i have learned from).....

decide how much eqpt you need to use and then divide that amount by two.

if you are "free patching" between devices i.e. (606 to fuzzbox to
ring-mod to mixer to...∗wait∗ lets send it to the fibulator...
etc...) you might want to color-code your patch cords w/ tape.

run with the limitations. in the studio its nice to be able to run
everything through everything else but you have a lot longer time to
monkey w/ it.....it helps to have some familiar systems/routings to
work with when you are playing live. keep in mind you will be
devoting some of that precious "listening bandwidth" to your fellow
performers--if you are completely tapped out trying to figure out
what the hell is going on w/ your rig you probably won't be picking
up on what other people are trying to communicate (hopefully they are
doing the same...)
