I don't see it that way Mark. Even 1/8 inch steel will flex over that
length since there is no bend. The whole idea was to have these rails with
wood behind them. The shorter screws means no drilling and such unless you
are just retentive like me and want to use the longer screws so I can have
the nylon washers. The rail attachment is with screws into the wood behind
them, not with any hardware at the end.
