Hey Doc,

I got the tape last weekend, and listened to it yesterday. More later.

In 1996 I FINALLY got my old PAiA EKx modules (based on CEM ICs) working at
least partly. So with renewed confidence, I set out to contact On Chip to see
what CEMs were still available, and I was referred to a guy in TX with only a
website. I'd bug a friend from work to download and print data sheets for
certain chips.

By about April of 97 my friend had grown tired of this biz, and while trying
to do front panel graphics by hand, I said "it's time to get a new computer."
Within a week I'd found synth-diy, and soon (as Larry said) there was guy
asking about the kind of synth kits he'd like to build, and asking which
features we'd like to see as potential buyers -- it was the CEM guy, so I
took him seriously. And I can honestly say that Paul was one of the main reaso
ns why I got online then.

In those days my suggestions were to build a feature heavy synth, and don't
worry about the stability so much. I guess I was half right, and I'm glad
(now) that Paul didn't listen to the other half.

So I guess I guess I've decided to give MOTM a try for the last three years
(if you count the preMOTM bull phase) and I'll continue with it until
something better comes along -- yeah! That's likely! BTW, I've got at least
one of each module so far.

And I have to say, this MOTM list is very much like hanging out with the most
interesting guys in the EM classes I've had -- except there were usually only
about 6 interesting and serious people in any given class, not the 60 or so
here.
