Hello again,
I've been rearranging the studio now that I have a second SKB pop-up
case (and they won't both fit on the desk), and I came up with a
great way to "mount" the cases.
I have an Ultimate A-frame which I'm sure most of you are familiar
with. It's a keyboard stand with "A" sides and metal tubes that run
between the sides. Each tube can hold a number of arms on which your
keyboards rest. Each arm has a little post at the end, perpendicular
to the arm, so that the front edge of your keyboard won't slide off
the stand.
The SKB cases have grooves in the PVC. The arms fit into these
grooves quite well, and once the cases are fit correctly, the posts
catch the edge firmly and they're very stable. I'll post a photo when
I get some film (sorry Paul--I didn't stop and get any on the way
home from work like I said I would). I have the cases sloped forward
so that when I open them and pop up the frame, the modules are right
in my face. It's really pretty cool. You'll see soon enough. And I
was able to fit two on one tier (really the only way I could have
done it), butted right up beside each other so there's not too much
space to bridge with cables.
Maybe this will help those with limited space but an empty tier...
David.
