As david mentioned be careful when purchasing. Due to the mechanicalnature machine condition can vary enormously. Try before you buy if atall possible. You often see these units on Ebay and they can get quiteexpensive. Check local vintage guitar shops as well. Prices seem to rangefrom about $200.00 to $800 depending on model and condition. I have theManuals and service docs for all units should you or any other person onthis list ever need them. Feel free to email me privately if you have morequestions. Also check this link at Music Machines for more info. MusicMachines: Roland/effects . Charles.

The Roland kicked butt. I had an RE-201 for years, wish I still did. It is
much more hi-fi than the echoplex, and had a much longer lengthtape which
lasted longer. I think the echoplex could do longer delays, however, cause
you could move the head farther from the record head. The Rolandalso had a
spring verb unit as a bonus.Be careful buying an old mechanical tape unit - the heads are probablyno
longer replaceable, and you'll have to make your own tapes whenthey need
replacement. Use a tape with a heavy backing.I'm not familiar with the Vox, so I can't speak about it.
