Hi Larry,
I took the discussion offlist with a couple of people, and we hammered out
what I was looking for--you know those DJ CD players that allow you to
"scratch?" Well, what I was talking about was similar in that I was
interested in reversing parts of an audio sample, but having some control
over the speed at which it occurred. For example, I would be able to speed
up (time compress) samples at an exponential rate as I approached the apex
(point at which it reverses), then go back down the exponential curve with
the reversed audio, then go back forward again (kind of describing an "S"
shape).
So we talked about wavetable synthesis, simple RAM storage with pointers,
blah blah blah.
But thank you so much for the offer--you're very kind. I have a lot of .wav
editing software at home, but nothing that will do quite what I'm talking
about. It's not a big deal anyway, as it's an idea that came to me in a
vision last night but not something I'm particularly interested in doing at
this point :)
Take care Larry,
David.
