12u flat cabinet rails gets my vote.
One thing you might be able to do, Paul, if you wanted one otherwise 'blank'
panel in a system to bear the logo is to offer a separate decal that could
be applied. This could be something like a bumper sticker, but I know when I
used to do capital projects for May Company we used a machine that created
these things called "Adgrafixes."
The Adgrafix machine was made by Gerber scientific, run from a PC (a 286 at
the time...!). It is sort of like a dot-matrix printer but with an Exacto
blade for a print head. You feed in rolls of colored "stuff" that was like a
very tough vinyl with very strong adhesives and a waxed backing.
You feed it a design, and the blade cuts it into the colored vinyl just deep
enough to not score the waxed backing. Then you can peel off the part you
want, apply it to glass, plastic, metal, anything, and it's semi-permanent
(you can get it off with a lot of solvent and elbow grease).
We bought our own machine, but I was led to believe that sign shops could
bang these things out for you while-U-wait for not much money.
Might be a nice alternative. This way people can place the logo wherever
they want, and the price of the blanks doesn't go up a buck across the
board.

Changing the subject... :)
Are we all in agreement that 12U width is the preferred flat rail length?
Any arguments
for others?
I plan to get a quote started tomorrow.
Also, was pitched the idea that the blank panels, on 1 side, could be
screened with the logo in
large format. If you wanted to show that side, fine. Else turn it over.
This would add about $1ea, cost wise. I guess on 1U it would be sideways.
Any other suggestions?

as you can tell, I'm cranky
