I think it would be cool to have a polyphonic keyboard controller.
Something that would output 3 or 4 CVs and gates for one wanting to do some
polyphonic work. Even though my Kenton will do up to 5 notes of CV plus
gate, they must all be on different channels (unless you want to start
stacking). So, it appears to me that there is no way with the Kenton to
rotate voices (well that's how I would say it). So, if you wanted to have
three similar voices set up on the MOTM and play a polyphonic chord, there
is no way to do it with MIDI and the Kenton, unless your MIDI keyboard
could be set up to output one note on this channel, one note on the next,
etc. Now, my MIDI keyboard will do that (up to 32 different MIDI channels
16 x 2). But, you have to select the split points ahead.

So, how does a regular polyphonic keyboard work? Would it be easier to
build a separate polyphonic controller, OR, make some nice MIDI box to work
with the Kenton? The MIDI box would look at a certain MIDI channel IN
(lets say channel 12). Anything coming to the box on channel 12 would be
alternated out on channels 12, 13, 14, and 15 for 4 voice. Anything not on
channel 12 would be ignored. So you could set your MID keyboard up with a
split point with a lead on one end, say channel 1, and the chords on the
other (channel 12). The 5 voice MOTM system (in my dreams) would have a
bitchin' lead patch driven my the Kenton on MIDI channel 1, and 4 patches
for the chords connected to the Kenton, channels 12, 13, 14, and 15).

This MIDI box would need only 2 switches:
1 - MIDI channel to process
2 - number of voices out from processed channel -
So, the chord section could be three notes, rotating through 3 MIDI
channels out instead of 4 (or 2 or ?)

Seems like this would be reasonable to do. How about some of you PIC or uP
programmers out there? Or any other ideas on how to do that for those of
use that do not own four voice Roland or Moog polyphonic keyboards.
