The Spectrol pots are being re-tooled for Y2K. So here is a head's up!

First, the leads are longer. If you have built a MOTM-800, the Bourns pots
(the blue ones) have the longer leads. The new Spectrol leads are 0.650 long
and slightly thinner than the Bourns (which are quite stiff!).

Second: I may be switching to Series 148, which are conductive plastic
elements
(as opposed to cermet) for ∗some, not all∗ cases. Cermet is #1 for
temperature stability,
but has a shorter rotational life (by 4X) that CP. CP is also somewhat
quieter, for
applications like audio attenuation. The log pots on the '420 are CP. The
Bourns pots
are all CP.

I do not want to revise all the docs at this time, having just spent $390 on
printing.
So, if you see a 148 part instead of of 149, ∗DON'T PANIC∗.

Third: Spectrol changed the body to be 1 piece molded for all new 148/149
orders.

Lastly: The 148 CP pots will have a ∗lower rotational torque∗, somewhere
between the 'tight'
149 and the 'looser' Bourns pots. But it's actually "smoother" to me than
the 149.

Sadly: They raised the prices about 80 cents per pot. So, future module
pricing will reflect this.

I have about 600 of the current 149 cermet pots. The 148s will appear in
about 3 months. Just
covering this today as I run around in a panic placing orders (12 week lead
times!!)
