Subject: RE: [motm] MOTM EG 800 + Oberkorn Problem

Hi,

Try plugging a patch cable into the MOTM-800 TRIG input and don’t plug the other end into anything. On the MOTM-800 the TRIG input is used to retrigger the envelope before it is finished but it is a switching type jack and if nothing is plugged into it, it is connected to the Gate input.

Best of luck,

John

Subject: [motm] MOTM EG 800 + Oberkorn Problem

Hi all,

I have a Oberkorn MK3 Sequencer and I'm trying to use it with my MOTM system, but having a small issue with how the MOTM EG-800 is handling the Gate signals it's recieving from the Oberkorn.

I make a very simple connection between the two:

Voltage out from Oberkorn ----> MOTM OSC

Gate out from Oberkorn ----------> MOTM EG and EG to VCA

On the Oberkorn I make a pattern with only Steps 1 and 9 on GATE position ON and the rest on GATE position OFF.

What happens is that when I set a long Release time on the MOTM 800, the notes that are set to GATE OFF on the Oberkorn also get triggered. I've played around with every possible setting but I can only have sequences of notes with very short decay time.

Interestingly if I make the same connections from the Oberkorn to my ROLAND MC-202 it will gate correctly. The GATE OFF notes will not trigger even with long release times.

So my question - is there anything special about the MOTM EG that makes it listen to gate pulses in a particular way that is causing this to happen? Is the Oberkorn perhaps sending a week signal even when the GATES are off which the MOTM is sensitive to? Would that make sense?

Perhaps someone with a similar setup can weigh in.. any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Ithai
